Loss of water from plants:

  1. Along with the exchange of gases in the leaf, the loss of water vapor in transpiration also takes place via the tiny pores called stomata.
  2. The process of water loss taking place in the plants is called transpiration.
  3. Water is lost in the form of water vapour.
  4. Significance of transpiration is that it cools down the plant during summer and helps in excretion of excess water.
