Solution

DNA fingerprinting is a technique that is used to do the paternity test to find the real parents of the newborn baby. This technique is also called as DNA profiling as the sequences of DNA of both parents and child are matched. To perform the paternity test following steps are involved:
  • Collect the blood sample from both the parents and the child.
  • Perform a PCR (Polymerase chain reaction), this helps in the amplification of the desired gene or DNA.
  • Run gel electrophoresis through which da fragment will assemble on the gel according to size and intensity of stain. These DNA fragments are then checked from which person they are similar to.
  • The strands of the child if are matched with any of the person DNA then that person is considered to be the parents of that child.
This is the most reliable technique to find the parents of the newborn baby.
