Name an algal genera that is haplo-diplontic.

Haplodiplontic life cycle:

  1. Here both haploid & diploid stages are multicellular. In some, these gametophyte is dominant & free-living and the sporophyte is a small and short-lived phase, that is dependent on gametophytes, e.g. Bryophytes.
  2. In pteridophytes, sporophyte is the independent and free-living dominant stage. It alternates with short-lived gametophytes.
  3. Some algae like Ulva, Polysiphonia, Ectocarpus, Kelps have a haplodiplontic life cycle.
