Pressure buildup in plants:
Pressure is also built up in the plant system when water enters plant cell due to diffusion against cell wall.
It also makes the cell turgid, & increases pressure potential.
Pressure potential is also generally positive.
If pressure greater than atmospheric pressure is being applied to pure water or a solution, then its water potential increases, which is equivalent to pumping water from one place to another.
