Spores are the cells involved in asexual reproduction that do not need to be fused with other cells in order to give rise to a new organism. They are involved in asexual reproduction in bacteria, yeast, fungi, and plants. Sometimes these spores are dormant through some life stages of the organism, especially during unfavorable conditions. These spores are durable and can get activated during favorable conditions. They enable an organism to reproduce even in the absence of a mating partner.
