Fission:

  1. It is the simplest and most common method of asexual reproduction.
  2. The whole body acts as a reproductive unit.
  3. The nucleus of the unicellular parent organism divides into two followed by the division of the cytoplasm, resulting in daughter cells of almost equal size.
  4. Multiple fission, in which repeated divisions of the patents are allowed by cytoplasmic division leading to many daughter cells occurs in the malarial parasite Plasmodium.
