The water is said to be polluted when there is the introduction of harmful and toxic substances in the water and it is termed water pollution.
Chemicals of industries, pesticides, toxic metals like lead, mercury, arsenic etc and also human or animal drugs, etc are chemical pollutants that make the water chemically polluted.
The polluted water which contains the above pollutants can cause various diseases like cholera, diarrhoea, dysentery, hepatitis A, polio, etc.
