  • An ion is formed when a metal either loses or gains electrons.
  • A metal ion is colorless when it has either a fully filled outer orbital or an empty outer orbital.

Part-2 Colorless metal ions

  • As Na and K have only one electron in their outermost shell when they lose 1 electron, they become cation with the fully filled outer shell.

Hence, the two metal ions that are colorless: Na+ and K+
