Infectious Disease:

  1. Infectious disease is defined as an infection caused by the invasion of the disease-causing pathogen into the body leading to discomfort and uneasiness.
  2. For example, the common cold. It is transferred from one person to another through the droplets of infected person.
  3. These types of diseases can be transferred from one individual to another through different modes. There are different modes of transmission of such diseases, such as through air, water, food, skin contact, and sexual contact.

Two modes of transmitted infectious disease are given below;

Transmission through the air-

  1. It is brought about by microbes released through droplets by an infected person into the surroundings.
  2. For example, influenza is transmitted from infected droplets into the air.

Transmission through water-

  1. It is brought about by the consumption of contaminated water.
  2. Water contamination occurs when toxic chemicals are mixed in water, or microbial growth in water.
  3. For example, typhoid is spread through contaminated water or food.
  4. Hence, infectious diseases spread through various modes and induced disease in a healthy individual when coming in contact.
