Asia is the largest continent in the world. The distribution of the population in different parts of the continent is rather uneven. In the monsoon region, the population density is as high as 600 people per square km. The valleys of the Euphrates and Tigris, Pakistan, India, the island of Java in Indonesia, the Hwang-Ho and Yangtze-King valleys of China and Japan are the very thickly populated region of Asia. Among these, the Gangetic valley, the Malabar coast, Java, and the plains of Japan have a population density as high as 600 persons per square km of land.
