It is the loss of water in the vapor form from the surface of plants.

Types of transpiration:

  1. Stomatal transpiration that takes place through the tiny pores present under the surface of leaves called stomata.
  2. The cuticular transpiration that takes place through the cuticle, which is the waxy coating present on the surface of plants.
  3. Lenticular transpiration that occurs through lenticels, which are the pores on a woody stem.
