Air pollution is the presence or release of any foreign particle or gases into the air which is harmful to both living and non-living objects.

Few man-made sources of air pollution are:

  1. Factories and power plants release carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, oxides of nitrogen, smoke, and hydrocarbons.
  2. Mining activities release methane and particulate matter.
  3. Vehicles release carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, etc.
  4. Atomic energy plants release radioactive substances into the air.
