name few uses of an electrical solenoid in simple appliances like door locks,MRI etc. and explain how it works in each case.

Solenoid can be used in MRI as an alternative of permanent magnet .Its advantage is low Initial cost.
Solenoid can also be used in Speakers and Microphones .In speakers it takes Electrical signals and runs it through a solenoid to create motion ,that motion creates sound.Microphone's working is opposite to Speaker.
Solenoids also uses in Door locks.
