Plant hormones are also known as phytohormones. These are chemicals promoting plant growth and hence, they are known as plant growth promoters or plant growth substances. There are different plant hormones, such as:

  1. Gibberellins: help in overcoming seed dormancy.
  2. Auxins: help in cell enlargement, bud formation or root initiation.
  3. Abscisic acid: has most of the plant regulations like bud formation, closure of stomata during water stress, shedding of leaves, dormancy of seeds or buds etc.
  4. Cytokinin: the chemicals involved in cell division and shoot elongation.
