Centrifugation:

  1. It is a method of separating the suspended particles of a substance from a liquid in which the mixture is rotated at a high speed in a centrifuge.
  2. The principle of this process is that the denser particles are forced to the bottom and the lighter particles stay at the top when spinning readily.

The following mixtures which can be separated by centrifugation are:

  1. Cream from milk can be obtained by the process of centrifugation.
  2. To separate the cream from the milk mixture grinder (mixi) is used.
  3. In milk, the solid fat particles were uniformly mixed all through the liquid.
  4. After centrifuging, the lighter cream has collected at the top, and milk without cream has remained below.
  5. Similarly, butter from the curd.
  6. It is also used in diagnostics laboratories for the different tests of blood and urine , to separate the different components present in it.
