Solution

Acidic salt solutions:

  1. The salt solution which has strong acid and weak bases is acidic in nature. They have a pH of less than 7.
  2. They have weak bases such as Ammonium hydroxide(NH4OH) and strong acids such as Sulphuric acid(H2SO4) and Hydrochloric acid(HCl)

NH4OH(aq)+HCl(aq)NH4Cl(s)+H2O(l)

Hence, a salt whose solution with a pH of less than 7 is Ammonium chloride(NH4Cl).

Basic salt solutions:

  1. The salt solution which has strong bases and weak acid is basic in nature. They have a pH of more than 7.
  2. They have strong bases such as Sodium hydroxide(NaOH) and Potassium hydroxide(KOH), and weak acids such as Carbonic acid(H2CO3) and Phosphoric acid(H3PO4).

2NaOH(aq)+H2CO3(aq)Na2CO3(s)+2H2O(l)

Hence, a salt with a pH of more than 7 is Sodium carbonate(Na2CO3).
