Exophthalmic goiter:

  1. It is caused due to the over production of thyroxin hormone by the thyroid gland.
  2. Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) by the anterior pituitary gland stimulates the thyroid gland to produce thyroxin.
  3. Exophthalmic goiter leads to bulging of eyes (exophthalmos), enlargement of thyroid gland, weight loss etc.
