Acidic oxides are also known as acidic anhydride. When such acidic anhydride dissolves in water they produce acid. The acidic anhydride of phosphoric acid $H_{3} P O_{4}$ is phosphorus pentoxide $P_{2} O_{5}$ . It reacts with water to form phosphoric acid. That is,
$P_{2} O_{5} + 3 H_{2} O \to 2 H_{3} {P O}_{4}$
