  1. Birds have a streamlined, spindle-shaped body that helps to reduce resistance to air.
  2. Forelimbs are modified into wings that enable them to fly in the air.
  3. The body is covered by feathers which make the body light and waterproof.
  4. They have light porous bones.
  5. Bones have air cavities (pneumatic bones) that make the body light in weight.
  6. Strong flight muscles provide additional strength for winged flight.
  7. The tail is used for changing the directions.
