The alloy used in making a pressure cooker is Duralumin. Alloy is the combination of a metal with another metal or non-metal. For example, Steel is an alloy with a mixture of metallic element iron and non-metallic element carbon.

Composition:

Aluminium (Al-95%

Magnesium Mg-0.4%-0.5%

Manganese Mn-0.4%-0.5%

Copper Cu-3.5%-4.5%

The alloy used for making pressure cooker is Duralumin with majorly composed of Aluminium and Copper. It has high tensile strength with the characteristics of lightness of Al. Due to its high strength after heat treatment, it can be used in making pressure cookers and also in automobile and aircraft components.
