The retina is most sensitive at the fovea centralis.
The fovea is the central pit of the yellowish pigmented spot called macula lutea present at the posterior pole of the eye lateral to the blind spot.
The visual acuity is the greatest at fovea centralis.
This is because it is densely packed with cone photoreceptor cells.
