Dear Student
Biodiversity hotspot is termed to the specific forests consisting of richest diversity of species including most rare and prior to extinct species. Forests are known as bio diversity hot spots because they contain a large amount o living organisms in them in a ecology.
There are two biodiversity hotspots in India – Eastern Himalayas and Western Ghats.
Biodiversity is of a lot of value and serves several important functions. Some significant reasons why it is necessary to conserve it are:
Maintaining balance of nature: Biodiversity is important to maintain balance between various components in the environment and hence should be conserved
Commercial value: Range of biodiversity provides several useful products , hence it should be conserved
Educational value: all forms of biodiversity provide useful inputs in study of life and living organisms, hence it should be conserved
Ethical values: All living forms have equal right of sustenance , hence it should be conserved.
Conserving Biodiversity Hotspots:
There should be well defined areas of hotspots and these should be kept far away from human intervention. Prevent the change in climate due to human activities. Strict laws should be make by governement.
