The energy that is obtained from the potential of the moving charges in a conductor is called electrical energy.

The measurement of electrical energy used in house appliances or machines used in industries is necessary as after measuring the energy consumed, the cost of electrical energy can be evaluated. There are different types of units to measure the electrical energy like Joule, Watt, etc., but the commercial unit of measuring the electrical energy is a kilowatt-hour (kW-h).

The energy consumed by all the appliances used in the homes or machines used in industries is measured in kW-h.

Conclusion:

Thus, the commercial (or practical) unit of electrical energy is kW-h.
