Solution

The constant temperature at which a liquid changes to its solid state is known as its freezing point.

  • Freezing is the process of state change in which matter changes from a liquid state to its solid state at its freezing point.
  • For example water changes into its solid state ice at 0 °C.
  • 0 °C is the freezing point of water at which or below which the state change occurs.

State change-

  • Matters normally exist in three states viz. solid, liquid and gas.
  • The states of matters can be interchanged with the release or absorption of heat.
  • State change can be understood from the flow chart given below.
