Name the constituents of stainless steel.
1. Alloys
Alloys are homogenous materials composed of two or more elements one of which must be a metal. The mixture of all the elements is melted together and then allowed to cool to form a solid material called an alloy. The properties of alloys are different from those of constituent metals.
2. Stainless steel and its constituents
Stainless steel is one of the alloy steel. The main constituents of stainless steel are Iron (Fe), Nickel (Ni), and Chromium (Cr). When all the three metals are alloyed, then stainless steel is obtained. It does not rust and is used to make cooking utensils, knife blades, scissors, surgical instruments, etc.
