  • Largest area of India is covered by red soils. Red soil is usually found in warm, temperate climate zones like India. This soil is derived from crystalline rock. The soil usually poor with low nutrients and humus. It is very difficult for cultivation due to its low water holding capacity. Hence, this soil requires manuring and greater irrigation facilities.
  • Crops grown in this soils are cotton, wheat, pulses, tobacco, jowar, linseed, millet, potatoes, etc.
