In the past century the two kingdoms(plantae and animalia)were expanded into five kingdoms to simplify difficulty to group some living things.The five system classification was proposed by R.H Whittaker in 1969.It includes Monera, Protista, Fungi, Plantae, Animalia.Five system of classification is based on characteristics such as body organisation, cell structure,mode of nutrition and source of nutrition.
Kingdom Monera: it includes prokaryotic cells.
Kingdom Protista: it includes algae, diatoms and protozoans.
Kingdom Fungi: it includes multicellular, eukaryotic saprophytes.
Kingdom Plantea: it includes all the plants that are non-motile,multi cellular and eukaryotic organisms.
Kingdom Animalia: it includes all the animals that are motile, multi cellular and eukaryotic organisms.
