• Xylem vessels: These are long cylindrical tube-like dead cells that are placed one above the other. They have lignified cell walls.
• Tracheids: These are long tapering lignified dead cells, which help in water conduction along with the vessels.
• Xylem fibers: These are also dead cells like vessels and tracheid. They provide mechanical strength to the plant body.
• Xylem parenchyma: They are the only living component of the xylem that helps in the storage of food.
