Open in App
Solution

  1. Hydrogen Chloride (HCl ) gas is prepared by the reaction of concentrated Sulfuric acid (H2SO4) and Sodium Chloride (NaCl).
  2. Drying Agents. Drying agents (also called desiccants) come in various forms and have found widespread use in the foods, pharmaceuticals, packing, electronics and many manufacturing industries. A desiccant is a hygroscopic substance that induces or sustains a state of dryness in its vicinity.
  3. The reaction to the preparation is, NaCl(s)Sodiumchloride+H2SO4(l)Sulfuricacid→NaHSO4(l)Sodiumhydrogensuifate+HCl(l)Hydrochloricacid
  4. The obtained Hydrogen chloride gas is then dried using concentrated Sulfuric acid.
  5. So the drying agent is concentrated Sulfuric acid.
