Hormones, also known as chemical messengers, are chemically secreted by the ductless glands to transfer information from one set of cells to another.

Gland

A gland is a collection of specialized cells or tissue which produces and secretes hormones to perform specific functions. Glands responsible for the secretion of hormones are called endocrine glands.

Emergency hormone:

  1. Adrenaline is the 'emergency hormone' as it is secreted during stress and is responsible for the fight or flight response.
  2. Adrenaline is secreted by the adrenal glands (Adrenal medulla).
