The emergency hormone of the body is called adrenaline, also known as epinephrine. It is released from the medulla region of adrenal gland. Its secretion is under the control of sympathetic nervous system. Whenever the stressful and emergency situation arise, for example fear or performance pressure, then the adrenaline is released. It acts by increasing the breathing rate so that more oxygen can be drawn in, it increases the heart rate so that more oxygen can be transported to the body, it upgrades the fat metabolism so that more energy can be produced. Apart from that, dilation of pupil, increased perspiration also occurs. In this way, it protects the body from stresses and shocks.
