  1. The energy currency of living creatures is ATP (adenosine triphosphate).
  2. It is created in the mitochondria at the end of the respiration process.
  3. In autotrophic feeding, it is created during photosynthesis in the leaves (in chloroplast).
  4. In the year 1929, German chemist Karl Lohmann discovered the ATP molecule.
  5. Alexander Todd, a Scottish biochemist, was the first person to synthesise the ATP molecule in 1948.
  6. These organic compounds work by absorbing chemical energy from digested food molecules and then releasing it for various cellular operations.
