  1. The enzyme found in human saliva is ptyaline.
  2. Ptyaline is also known as salivary amylase.
  3. Ptyaline secreted in the mouth brings about the digestion of starch.
  4. It works on starch (carbohydrates) and reduces it to simple maltose.
  5. Lingual lipase is also an enzyme that is found in the saliva. It brings about the digestion of fats/lipids.
