(i) male gamete (n) + egg (n) = Zygote (2n)
(ii) male gamete (n) + secondary nucleus (2n) = Endosperm nucleus (3n)

(i) Double fertilization is nothing but the union of two sperm cells and one fertilizes the egg cell to form the zygote, while the other fuses with the two polar nuclei that form the endosperm.
(ii) Diploid zygote and triploid PEN are the products of double fertilization Since endosperm is a product of the fusion of three haploid nuclei, it is called a triple fusion.
