Holozoic nutrition: It is the kind of nutrition in which the organisms ingest complex food particles and convert them to simpler forms through various processes and thus obtain nutrition from them.

The five main processes are- ingestion, digestion, absorption, assimilation, and egestion.

The steps in holozoic type nutrition:

1. The steps for obtaining nutrition follow certain steps in a sequence.
2. It begins with the ingestion of food through the mouth.
3. Thereafter the food enters the process of digestion in which the complex food items are broken down into simpler forms by the action of various enzymes in the alimentary canal.
4. Once the food is digested it gets absorbed into the bloodstream via the villi in the small intestine and this process is called absorption.
5. And blood transports the digested food to all parts of the body for the release of energy. which is known as assimilation.
6. Post the digestion process the food that does not get digested is eliminated by the body as water and that process is known as egestion.
