Solution

1. Bromine (Br) is the only non-metal that is a liquid and a diatomic molecule.

2. Hydrogen (H) is unique metal because it has no fix position in periodic table.

3. As you move down the halogen family, the state of the halogens is from a gas to a solid state. That's why Iodine (I) is in solid state.

4. Iodine undergo sublimation because directly changes into gaseous state without melting.

5. Two light members of alkali metal group are-

  • Lithium (Li) and sodium (Na) .
  • Lithium is the lightest metal and the lightest solid element.

6. Hydrogen is the lightest element and exhibits the simplest atomic structure.

7. Sodium (Na) because it will burn with a golden flame in the air.

8. Two abnormal noble gases are-

  • Helium (1s2 configuration) and radon which is radioactive.
  • They are colorless and non flammable gases at room temperature.

9. The noble gas absent in air-

  • Radon (Atomic number 86) is a radioactive substance.
  • It produced due to decay of Radium-226 found in Uranium ore.
  • This is not present in the atmosphere.

10. Two elements of first period are- Hydrogen and Helium.

11. There are 11 elements in the table that exist in the gaseous state at room temperature.

  • Eleven elements are-
  • Hydrogen, Helium, Nitrogen, Oxygen, Neon, Argon, Krypton, Xenon, Radon, Fluorine and Chlorine.

12. A light metal which has three valency is-

  • Aluminum(Al).
  • It is the metal aluminum which is commonly used as packaging materials.

13. Valency of carbon in carbon monoxide(CO) is Two.

14. An element of 4th period which gives the lilac flame is-

  • Potassium (K)
  • Potassium reacts vigorously with water,
  • Generating sufficient heat to ignite hydrogen emitted in the reaction.
  • Burning with a lilac-colored flame.

15. Strongest acid is-

  • Fluoroantimonic acid

16. The lightest or least dense metal that is a pure element is Lithium (Li).

17. Fluorine (F) is the most electronegative element in periodic table.

18. The name of radioactive halogen is Astatine (At)

  • It is highly radioactive element.
  • Its chemical properties are similar to iodine.
  • It is least reactive and possesses most metallic property in halogen family.
  • It is solid at room temperature.

19. The element which has the smallest atomic mass is

  • Hydrogen (H).
  • It has a proton and an electron.

20. The liquid metal is Mercury (Hg).

21. The liquid non-metal is Bromine (Br).
