  3. Calcium carbide is used for the production of Acetylene.
  4. When Calcium carbide comes in contact with water then it produces Calcium hydroxide and Acetylene.
  5. The chemical reaction involved is shown below.
    CaC2(s)(Calciumcarbide)+2H2O(l)C2H2(g)(Acetylene)+Ca(OH)2(aq)(Calciumhydroxide)
  6. Hence, Ethene and Ethyne gas is used for the artificial ripening of fruits.
