Solution

Eustachian tube:

  1. It is a narrow tube made up of elastic cartilage.
  2. It is the part of the middle ear that connects the middle ear to the throat.
  3. The eustachian tube’s main function is maintaining/ equalizing air pressure on either side of the eardrum.
  4. The eustachian tube protects the eardrum from loud noise which could cause damage to the eardrum.
  5. The eustachian tube is opened when a person yawns or swallows so that air from the middle ear either leaves or enters via the throat to maintain the pressure in the middle ear with the atmospheric pressure.

Hence, the Eustachian tube connects the cavity of the middle ear with the throat.
