Question

Name the following:

(b) A metal which does not react with dilute acids.

Open in App
Solution

The metal which does not react with dilute acids:

  • Most of the metals react with dilute acid-forming their respective salt along with hydrogen gas.
  • But Copper(Cu), silver(Ag), and mercury(Hg) does not react with dilute acid.
  • They cannot displace hydrogen from the non-metal anion.
  • The more reactive metals displace less reactive metals.

Therefore, copper(Cu) does not react with dilute acids.
