Open in App
Solution

Fruit ripening phytohormone:

  1. Ethylene is a gaseous hormone produced by various parts of the plant. An increase in the concentration of auxin promotes ethylene formation.
  2. Ethylene promotes the ripening of fruit. It also stimulates the abscission of flowers, leaves, and fruits. It retards longitudinal and lateral bud growth.

Hence, the hormone that helps in the ripening of fruits is ethylene.
