Solution

Hormone produced in root tips:

  1. Cytokinins, the adenine derivatives, are produced in the root tips of the plant. They are also produced in the seed endosperm. From the roots, they are distributed to different plant parts through the xylem.
  2. Cytokinins modulate cell division, differentiation, and expansion in combination with auxins. They are capable of delaying senescence in different plant parts like leaves by enhancing the rate of protein synthesis.

Hence, the hormone that is produced in root tips is cytokinin.
