Transpiration

  1. Transpiration is the evaporation of water from the aerial parts of the plant.
  2. It occurs during the daytime when the guard cells swell up and as a result of it the stomata opens for the process of photosynthesis.
  3. When the stomata opens water is also lost in the atmosphere as a result of evaporation and this is known as transpiration.
