Solution

Events after fertilization in humans:

  1. Fertilization of the ovum by a sperm in the fallopian tube results in the formation of a zygote.
  2. The zygote travels towards the uterus and undergoes cell division resulting in the formation of the blastocyst.
  3. The attachment of a developing zygote or the blastocyst to the uterine wall is known as implantation.
  4. Implantation usually takes place about 5-7 days after ovulation.

Fixing of a developing zygote on the uterine wall is called implantation.
