Open in App
Solution

There are two types of seeds depending on the basis of the number of cotyledons present in a seed:

  1. Monocotyledonous seeds are those which have a single cotyledon.

They give rise to monocotyledonous plants such as wheat, rice, maize, onion, and barley.

2. Dicotyledonous seeds are those which have two cotyledons.

They give rise to dicotyledonous plants such as mango, gram, pea, castor, etc.

Seeds having two cotyledons are dicotyledonous.
