  1. The structure which connects the placenta with the fetus is known as the umbilical cord.
  2. The umbilical cord is covered with amniotic epithelium and formed of the allantois.
  3. It has two arteries and one vein for carrying deoxygenated blood toward the placenta and for carrying oxygenated blood towards the fetus respectively.
