  1. Modern periodic table is the arrangement of elements on the basis of increasing atomic number in 7 horizontal rows and 18 vertical columns. Horizontal rows are termed as Periods while the vertical columns are termed as Groups.
  2. Elements present in Group 18 of the periodic table are termed as noble gases or inert gases. For example, Helium (He).
  3. Since Argon (Ar) and Neon(Ne) belong to Group 18 of the periodic table, they are classified as noble gases or inert gases.
