Name the following

Two metals are obtained by the process of electrolysis of their fused chlorides.

Solution

  1. The elements that lose electrons and thereby form positively charged element is metals.
  2. The metals that have high electropositivity which is a greater tendency to lose electrons present on the valance shell are obtained by the process of electrolysis of their fused chlorides.
  3. Since calcium(Ca) and sodium(Na) have great electropositivity and are found in their salt form that is fused with chlorides, they can be easily obtained by the process of electrolysis.
  4. Because the electrolysis process involves the loss and gain of electrons by chemical compounds.

So the metal that is obtained by the process of electrolysis is sodium, (Na) and calcium, (Ca).
