(a) When aluminium foil reacts with dilute hydrochloric acid, aluminum chloride and hydrogen gas is formed.

2Al(s)+6HCl(l)2AlCl3+3H2(g)

(b) When aluminium foil reacts with sodium hydroxide solution in an aqueous solution of it, then sodium aluminate and hydrogen gas is produced.

Al(s)+NaOH(aq)+H2O(l)NaAlO2(s)+H2(g)
