Class Mammalia:

  1. The word ‘mamma’ means ‘breast’. They are the most highly evolved and successful animals.
  2. The characteristic feature of mammals is that female individuals possess mammary glands which produce milk for feeding the young ones.
  3. The cutaneous glands, sweat glands, scent glands, and sebaceous glands are present in class Mammalia.
  4. Sebaceous glands and sweat glands are the two types of cutaneous glands present in the dermis.
  5. Except for the palms of the hands and the soles of the feet, sebaceous glands, or oil glands, are located everywhere over the skin.
  6. Sweat glands are exocrine gland, which produces and secret chemicals onto an epithelial surface via a duct.
  7. Most animals have scent glands, which are exocrine glands. They secrete semi-viscous fluids containing pheromones and other semiochemical substances.
