The highest summit is Guru Peak (5,650 feet [1,722 metres]), on Mount Abu. The Deccan Plateaus are found in Kerala, India. The highest point in the Deccan Plateaus is known as the Anamudi, which is a Malayam name that means ‘Elephant’s Forehead’. Anamudi is the highest mountain in the Western Ghats of India, and indeed all of South India, at 2,479 metres. Anamudi is located in a National Park with a healthy natural life including Bengal tigers and Asian elephants, as well as a unique type of frog.
